"DEAD line" RECEIVES HONORS FOR SECOND TIME

        Jim Corona learned today that his action/adventure screenplay, "DEAD line" was named a semi-finalist in the annual international Screenplay Festival competition.

        "DEAD line" was selected for the honor from among an estimated 3,000 entries.

        An earlier version of the screenplay was previously named a quarter-finalist in the Writers on the Storm competition, and was graded "consider with reservations" by Coverage Ink, a highly-regarded L.A.-based coverage service.

        Corona said, "I think the revisions were enough to send it up to the next level in this competition."

        Corona's screenplay is currently under consideration by an Oscar-nominated director, an Oscar-winning director, a Saturn and Empire award-winning actor and an Oscar-winning actor.


JIM CORONA'S WORK "OUTSTANDING" AT DEAN FRONK WORKSHOP

        Jim Corona participated in a "Nailing the Audition" workshop conducted by L.A.casting director Dean Fronk last weekend (the 13th and 14th of December).

"A nice easy grasp of everything"

        Fronk said Jim's work was "outstanding," and that Jim has "a nice, easy grasp of everything," as Jim worked through four different scenes in the two-day workshop.

JIM CORONA COMPARED TO ANTHONY HOPKINS AND PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN BY L.A. CASTING DIRECTOR

"Genius in your work"

        In a conference call this afternoon, L.A. casting director Cathy Henderson told Jim Corona, "I think about Philip Seymour Hoffman when I think about you. I see that kind of genius in your work. I really do." She added that "I think [you could play] the same type of roles that Philip Seymour Hoffman and Anthony Hopkins would play, someone who's very committed and almost over the edge, whether it's a killer or a lawyer."

"Absolutely chilling to the bone"

        She referred to the two famous actors again when she told Jim, "All those things that other actors still have to make those breakthroughs, you've passed all those. Your work is going to be absolutely chilling to the bone. I love your commitment. I think you're going to start booking roles left and right. So you become an Anthony Hopkins, you become a Philip Seymour Hoffman."

        Jim Corona once again participated in a "Double Shot Weekend Workout" conducted by Price Hall and Eb Lottimer yesterday.

        Jim performed the part "Jim" a in the screenplay "Lucky Man," written by Lottimer.

        Sunday's workshop was the eighteenth workshop Jim has taken over the past three years. He has also studied in weekly classes with Price Hall's "The Natural Act" for more than a year, and performed in both of "The Natural Act's" monologue showcases.

        Continually developing his acting chops, Jim Corona attended the eight-hour "Double Shot Weekend Workout" conducted by Price Hall and Eb Lottimer yesterday.

        Jim performed the role of David Bryce, one of the lead parts in "Your Aura Is Throbbing."

        Sunday's workshop was the seventeenth workshop Jim has taken over the past three years. He has also studied in weekly classes with Price Hall's "The Natural Act" for more than a year, and performed in both of "The Natural Act's" monologue showcases.

SCRIPT RECEIVES HIGH MARKS

        Jim Corona received word today that his feature-length script, "DEAD line," is a quarterfinalist in the annual international "Writers on the Storm" screenplay competition.

        Prior to this honor, "DEAD line" was graded "Consider with Reservations" by Coverage, Ink, one of L.A.'s largest coverage services. The Coverage, Ink reader also graded Jim a straight "Consider" as a writer.
